A Grand Pastry Buffet, the final project for students in the Pastry Food Show and Buffet Presentation class, proved to be a treat for members of Penn College's 1914 Society. The theme for the Dec.

Pennsylvania College of Technology announced the winners of its annual Food Show, which included a chocolate house auction that raised $1,600 for the Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity. The Food Show included about 80 entries from students in seven advanced culinary arts and baking and pastry arts courses, and all seven courses were judged by culinary arts professionals from across the region.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold a commencement ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 18, for the 380 students who have petitioned to graduate following the Fall 2010 semester. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. The student speaker is Eric D.

David S. Richards, associate professor of physics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently completed his doctoral studies at The Pennsylvania State University. Richards earned a doctorate in instructional systems from Penn State.

On Friday, Nov. 12, Penn College's Accounting Society took an educational trip to the Yuengling Brewing Co. in Pottsville. "We began with a tour of the facilities; it was a great tour," said Shannon Killian, society president, who also provided the group photo at left. "We learned about how the company got started and how they survived Prohibition.

Students at Pennsylvania College of Technology will auction their works to benefit Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity during the School of Hospitality's annual Food Show and Chocolate House Auction on Dec. 3.

Twenty-four students and three chaperones from Berks Career and Technology Center visited Pennsylvania College of Technology on Wednesday, getting tailor-made exposure to the hands-on core of the institution's reputation. The personalized instruction came courtesy of Bahram Golshan, an associate professor of computer science, and had its roots in a request to Penn College's Admissions Office.

The service will be Friday morning for Gideon J. Wray, an assistant professor of business administration/accounting in Penn College's School of Business and Computer Technologies, who died Thursday, Oct. 28.

Throughout his stay, Wickhoff talked with classes about wine pairing and the flavors and origins of Austrian wine. Wickhoff, managing director of Premium Estates of Austria, travels the world to promote wines of Austria's top producers.
