Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality donated their handiwork to raise nearly $1,200 for Williamsport/Lycoming Habitat for Humanity during its "House for a Home" chocolate house auction on Dec. 8.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality is set to host its annual Food Show and "House for a Home" chocolate house auction to benefit Williamsport/Lycoming Habitat for Humanity on Dec. 8.

Mark D. Noe, a professor of English-composition at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently published a memoir essay in Spitball: The Literary Baseball Magazine. His essay, titled "Pilgrimage," is grounded in "Shoeless Joe" by W.P. Kinsella, a book that became the movie "Field of Dreams." The essay was published in the magazine's "The Memory Game" section.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's "You're the Chef" is releasing a cookbook of more than 120 recipes from the public television cooking show. The book's early-December release coincides with a live cooking appearance on WVIA on Dec. 9.

David L. Evans, a professor of biology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was appointed public relations officer for the Human Anatomy and Physiology Society, the major professional society for teachers of anatomy and physiology in higher education.

Shawn Sidey, a 1996 Penn College graduate who earned degrees in culinary arts and food and hospitality management, returned to campus Nov. 17 to talk with students about coffee roasting. Sidey, trained as a chef, decided after several years of restaurant and catering management positions, to pursue his joy for coffee as a career. After managing three stores in a cafe chain called Brew HaHa!

Two alumni from Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality will visit the college this month to talk with students about their jobs in unique hospitality niches. Shawn Sidey, who graduated in 1996 with a degree in food and hospitality management, will visit the college on Nov. 17. Sidey is a roasting supervisor for Starbucks Coffee Co.'s York Roasting Plant in York.

Brian M. McKeon, assistant professor of biology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently earned a doctorate in philosophy and medical ethics from Binghamton University. He successfully defended his dissertation, titled "The Hobgoblin of Little Minds: How the Psychology of Contradiction Explains the Cyclic Nature of Philosophy," in September.

Penn College freshman Diego Silva, an Information Technology student from Springfield, Va., has been named co-chair of the student subcommittee of the College Town Committee. Also serving as co-chair is Jennifer Mazaika, a junior from Lycoming College.
