A Pennsylvania College of Technology student was awarded The Pennsylvania State University's 2011 Achieving Women Award for her work at Penn State Schuylkill. Penny K. Shade, of Schuylkill Haven, works in Penn State Schuylkill's Hidden Stream and oversees the campus's catering service. She also is pursuing a bachelor's degree in culinary arts and systems from Penn College.

One alumnus drove more than 500 miles (round trip) to volunteer at Pennsylvania College of Technology's Spring Open House and two others ended the day by getting engaged in a campus parking lot. There appears to be a whole lot of love going on at Penn College! Approximately 25 alumni returned to campus to volunteer their time, talent and enthusiasm at Open House, held March 26.

Graphic design students had the opportunity Thursday to ask questions about the job search and how the "real world" looks for young graphic design graduates through a Skype conference with 2006 Penn College alumnus Austin Hoyt.

Brian M. McKeon, department head for natural sciences in Penn College's School of Integrated Studies,returns to the Community Theatre League stage as"Mack" in "A Family Plot," which begins a two-week run Friday at the 100 W. Third St. venue.

Alumnus Shawn Sidey, who graduated in 1996 with degrees in food and hospitality management and in culinary arts, returned to campus Monday to present to classes in the School of Hospitality. Sidey, roasting supervisor for the Starbucks plant in York, offered demonstrations and coffee tastings and talked with students about Starbucks, his work there and how his career has progressed.

The six graduating seniors on the Penn College men's volleyball team Brad Bell, Andrew Epley, Colin Grube, Jared Palko, Philip Reist and Matthew Stoltz all were honored by head coach Wes Strayer prior to their Saturday game against an alumni squad. Bell, a graphic design major from Harrisburg, is in his fourth season for the Wildcats.

A 1982 graduate of Williamsport Area Community College and a member of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Board of Directors were among the honorees Thursday as the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce held its 10th annual Education Celebration at the Holiday Inn. David L.

Daniel J. Clarke, who graduated from Penn College with four information technology degrees in May and December 2007, is featured in an Impact in Pennsylvania newsletter from the Cisco Networking Academy. Clarke, a systems engineer, works with the Cisco Public Sector team in meeting the technology needs of education and government.

A 2008 graduate of Penn College's two-year automotive technology major recently received a Champion Diagnosis Feedback Award from BMW of North America. Mark A. Lowmaster, a technician with Circle BMW in Eatontown, N.J., since 2009, was presented with a $500 gift card at an industry luncheon.
