The Pennsylvania College of Technology men's and women's basketball teams, with Penn State University Athletic Conference records of 10-3 and 6-6, respectively, are headed for the playoffs Saturday. Their opponents, game times and sites will be decided later in the week. The men have the second-best record in the conference, behind Penn State Beaver, and continue to lead the North Division.

With nary the need for an "Alohomora" spell, a two-hour reception magically opened the Harry Potter's World exhibit at Penn College's Madigan Library, as attendees some in costume and all awash in music from the Potter movies viewed displays, enjoyed theme-appropriate refreshments and vied for door prizes.

Penn College was among 26 exhibitors at the Career and Technical Education celebration Feb. 8-9 in the East Wing Rotunda of the Capitol Building in Harrisburg. The college's renewable energy technologies and building science and sustainable design majors were among the key programs highlighted during Tuesday's opening ceremonies.

Dina L. Wilson, associate professor of nursing programs at Pennsylvania College of Technology, passed the National League for Nursing Certification Exam for Certified Nurse Educator in December. The CNE is deemed a mark of professionalism by the National League for Nursing.

Franco's Lounge in downtown Williamsport will host a Pasta Party from 4-9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, to benefit the Daniele Family Scholarship Fund at Penn College. The event will feature three kinds of pasta, three different sauces, bread, salad and sausage at a cost of $20 per person. Franco's employees are volunteering their time and gratuities in support of the scholarship.

The Penn College archery team will be featured this weekend on "The Great Outdoors," a regional production for which members were filmed and interviewed during competition at the Bloomsburg Expo on Jan. 27. The feature will be broadcast on Fox 56 from 7:30-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, and from 7:30-8 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, on MyNetworkTV. It also will be streamed on the show's website.

Pennsylvania College of Technology hosted the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Tech Challenge North Central Pennsylvania Regional Qualifier, a robotics competition for students in grades 7-12, on its campus Feb. 5.

Daniel J. Clarke, who graduated from Penn College with four information technology degrees in May and December 2007, is featured in an Impact in Pennsylvania newsletter from the Cisco Networking Academy. Clarke, a systems engineer, works with the Cisco Public Sector team in meeting the technology needs of education and government.

Chef Paul Mach, assistant professor of hospitality management/culinary arts at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently earned the Certified Specialist of Wine credential from the Society of Wine Educators. The Society of Wine Educators validates wine knowledge, tasting acumen and teaching ability within its certifications.
