Fall Commencement set for Dec. 20

Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold a commencement ceremony Dec. 20 at the Journey Bank Community Arts Center in Williamsport for students who have petitioned to graduate following the Fall 2025 semester.

Nearly 311 students have petitioned to graduate following the Fall 2025 semester at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

A commencement ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Journey Bank Community Arts Center. The ceremony, which will be livestreamed, is open to students who are registered to participate and ticketed guests; 228 students are expected to march.

Ed G. Owens, associate professor of mathematics, will share remarks with attendees. Owens is the recipient of the 2025 Veronica M. Muzic Master Teacher Award, the highest honor accorded to a faculty member at the college. Owens also received an Excellence in Teaching Award in 1995 and 2018.

The student speaker for the ceremony is Hayden D. Lester, of Jersey Shore, who will earn a Bachelor of Science in business administration. She is currently serving as assistant to the personnel specialist at BLaST Intermediate Unit 17 in Williamsport.  

Lester, a Dean’s List student, will also receive the President’s Award, presented for leadership and service to the college. She has served in numerous roles during her time at Penn College, including two terms as Student Government Association President, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society member, orientation leader, peer mentor and student tutor. Lester also is an Awesome Woman Exemplar awardee and WILD Leadership Development Program graduate.  

The ceremony will also include remarks provided by Nathaniel H. Lyon, the Winter 2025 Alumni Humanitarian Award recipient. Lyon graduated from Penn College in 2020, earning his bachelor’s degree in welding & fabrication engineering technology and associate degree in welding technology. Lyon, from Elizabethtown, is a welding trades teacher and mentor at Milton Hershey School.  

Penn College President Michael J. Reed will be joined by state Sen. Gene Yaw, chair of the college’s Board of Directors, in conferring degrees and certificates upon the graduates.
