More than 700 riders took to the trails at Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center for the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League’s youth mountain bike race.
It was the school’s second time hosting the two-day event – Playin’ at Penn College – which took place Sept. 6 and 7 under mostly sunny skies.
Ryan Oelkers, PICL outreach director, said Saturday’s rain showers didn’t dampen the spirits of riders, and the trails were in fantastic condition for Sunday’s event. The 400-acre course, he added, is a highlight of the year for the PICL community.
In its 10th season, PICL is a nonprofit youth development organization that provides safe, inclusive, and competitive mountain biking opportunities for students in grades six through 12. Each of the events are built around community, teamwork, outdoor adventure, and character-building experiences.
