While the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's and women's basketball teams each went 1-1 last week, the men's volleyball and coed archery teams were preparing for their openers this weekend. Men's Basketball Solid defensive play in the second half at Penn State Scranton Wednesday paid off with a 72-66 win.

Penn College junior Leroy Joiner, of Williamsport, was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Division II Co-Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 16. In a 1-1 week for the Wildcats, Joiner averaged 22.5 points and 11.5 rebounds, while shooting .545 from the field. In both games, he recorded "double-doubles" to bring his season total to 11.

On Sunday, Jan. 16, Penn College kicked off the return of wrestling with a full day of related activities. The Wildcats' "Wrestling Day" included a clinic with guest clinician Mark McKnight, a Pennsylvania State University resident athlete, followed by an intrasquad meet.

Penn College senior Greg Solyak (Lititz) received an honorable mention for United States Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Division II Player of the Week honorsduring the week ending Jan. 9. Solyak averaged 23.5 points and 11 rebounds, notching two double-doubles in a 1-1 week for the Wildcats. He had a season-high 30 points against Division III Misericordia University.

Penn State head wrestling coach Cael Sanderson will be the guest speaker at Penn College Wrestling Day on Sunday, Jan. 16, featuring a full schedule of activities to celebrate reinstatement of the college's wrestling program. The wrestling community is invited to join in this special day in Penn College athletic history.

Pennsylvania College of Technology, in conjunction with the Penn State University Athletic Conference, has announced the recipients of the Fall 2010 All-Academic Team award. The award is given to student-athletes with a grade-point average of 3.0 or better in the semester of competition. Of 95 student-athletes competing in the fall semester, 42 made the grade.
