Penn College senior Greg Solyak (Lititz) was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Division II Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 6. Solyak averaged 23 points in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats. In the win over No. 9 Penn State Wilkes-Barre, he broke the Penn College men's basketball all-time scoring record.

The Loyalsock Little Lady Lancers played an intersquad scrimmage at halftime of Saturday's Penn College women's basketball game against Penn State DuBois. The sixth-grade girls played an enjoyable 10 minutes of basketball in Bardo Gymnasium, with the maroon team winning 8-0.

With 1,430 points, senior Greg Solyak has sealed his place at the top of the Penn College men's basketball all-time leading scorers list. Solyak achieved the honor against Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Thursday night. He only needed 15 points to capture the title; he ended up scoring 18. Alumnus Joe Simon, who graduated last year, previously held the honor with 1,425 points.

Pennsylvania College of Technology men's and women's basketball teams return to Penn State University Athletic Conference action this week after a week during which they each went 0-3 against non-league opponents. "I was very excited last year. I thought it was going to be our No. 1 year. The downfall was we were lacking a women's recurve team.
