The Pennsylvania College of Technology men's and women's basketball teams opened their seasons Thursday at home against Central Penn College with split results: the men lost, 72-63, and the women won, 75-44. FLASHBACK Men Junior Leroy Joiner (Williamsport) scored 23 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and Phil Kaylor (Lebanon) added 11 points. The Wildcats shot just 37 percent from the field.

An intramural flag football team traveled to Lycoming College to face its crosstown rival Wednesday and walked away with a 19-12 win. On the opening drive, Lycoming converted two fourth downs to take an early 6-0 lead. Not to be outdone, Penn College responded nicely, as Travis Williams hauled in a long pass from Paul McGinn on fourth down to keep the drive alive.

Senior defender Seth Rearick (Watsontown/Warrior Run) was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for men's soccer. For the week ending Oct. 31, Rearick helped the Wildcats go 2-1, including scoring the game-winner in the Penn State University Athletic Conference men's soccer championships against Penn State New Kensington.

Junior Lyndsey Smith (Mechanicsburg/Cumberland Valley), sophomore Tara Powell (Burgettstown) and freshman Samantha Davis (North Apollo/Apollo Ridge) have been named to the Penn State University Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball All-Conference Team. Smith, a setter, and Davis, an outside hitter, earned Second Team honors, while Powell, an outside hitter, was an honorable mention.
