Courtney Gernert Junior outside hitter Courtney Gernert, of Palmyra, was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 8.  In her team’s two games, Gernert totaled 17 kills, averaging 2.83 kills per set.  She also notched four aces and digs.  This is her first honor of the season.

Malcolm Kane Freshman goalkeeper Malcolm Kane, of Glenside, was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 1.  In the team’s first game of the season, Kane recorded 10 saves on his way to a 3-1 win over New York's Alfred State.  He becomes the first selection for the award on the year.

When Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams begin their seasons over the next two weeks, three will be under new coaches. Monica Brown succeeds Bambi Hawkins as coach of the women’s volleyball team, Adam Matter replaces Enrique Castillo as coach of the men’s soccer team and David Mendez follows Mike Paulhamus as coach of the men’s and women’s cross-country teams.
