Pennsylvania College of Technology golf and men’s soccer teams stood out last week as the golfers won their own invitational and the men’s soccer team won both of its matches. FLASHBACK Golf Playing Monday at the White Deer Golf Complex, Penn College topped a nine-team Penn State University Athletic Conference field with a 323-stroke total.

Courtney Gernert Junior outside hitter Courtney Gernert, of Palmyra, was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Women’s Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 8.  In her team’s two games, Gernert totaled 17 kills, averaging 2.83 kills per set.  She also notched four aces and digs.  This is her first honor of the season.

Malcolm Kane Freshman goalkeeper Malcolm Kane, of Glenside, was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 1.  In the team’s first game of the season, Kane recorded 10 saves on his way to a 3-1 win over New York's Alfred State.  He becomes the first selection for the award on the year.

Three of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s six fall sports teams open their seasons this week as the women’s volleyball team gets underway at 7 p.m. Friday at Keystone College, the men’s soccer team starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Alfred (N.Y.) State University and the women’s soccer team begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at Rosemont College.
