Pennsylvania’s industrial and manufacturing history will be explored through art and art materials with Pennsylvania College of Technology’s unique series, “Material Matters: Past, Present, Future.” Offering exhibits, artist residencies, workshops and other programming, the series opens with an exhibition of industrial sculptures and paintings by Pittsburgh native Jeff Repko.

Penn College's second annual PA Build My Future event, an interactive academic and industry showcase on Thursday, provided more than 900 high-school students with an opportunity to experience the full range of possibilities in the construction and design field.

Career Day brought hundreds of ninth-12th graders to campus on Thursday to explore more than 30 activities offered by employees and students to help high-schoolers learn about the wide variety of career options available to them. A National Endowment for the Arts grant of $15,000 will support “Material Matters,” a series of exhibitions, artist residencies and workshops focusing on materials from Pennsylvania’s history. The series is developed and presented by The Gallery at Penn College. “We are so fortunate to have the support of the NEA to develop this exciting program,” said Penny Griffin Lutz, gallery director.

The dedication of six Army ROTC cadets has been recognized with scholarships covering the cost of college tuition. Five cadets from Pennsylvania College of Technology and one from Lycoming College were bestowed Army ROTC scholarships during a recent contracting ceremony at Penn College. In addition to paying for tuition, the scholarships provide a monthly stipend and book allowance.

The Northeast PA Manufacturers & Employers Council and Pennsylvania College of Technology have announced a partnership and a scholarship opportunity for YES (Your Employability Skills) Northeast Program graduates.

As part of Homecoming and Parent & Family Weekend activities, Pennsylvania College of Technology celebrated its new synthetic turf field – “UPMC Field” – and a host of other recent enhancements to its athletic complex, including a new entrance gate, press box and scoreboard.

The fourth annual Homecoming and Parent & Family Weekend (Oct. 4-6) provided another exhaustive opportunity for alumni, current students and families to (re)connect.

The Shell Polymers Rotational Molding Center of Excellence was unveiled Sept. 24, and Shell was honored for its generous support for facilities that aid in the instruction of aspiring plastics professionals at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
