Prospective students along with their families and friends can learn more about Pennsylvania College of Technology and its academic programs, facilities and campus life at an Open House scheduled for Saturday, March 28. The event will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Alina Fernandez, a daughter of Fidel Castro who became a political dissident and eventually fled Cuba, will share her experiences in a program to be offered March 26 at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium on the college's main campus.
A number of Pennsylvania College of Technology offices again are joining forces with AAA North Penn to encourage students to make wise, safe decisions during Spring Break. In a party atmosphere, from 5-6:30 p.m.
Pennsylvania College of Technology's Physician Assistant Club will greet the new season by sponsoring the aptly named 5K Springle Walk/Run at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 21, on the college's main campus in Williamsport. The event, a club fundraiser and seasonal follow-up to December's 5K Jingle Walk/Run, will begin and end at Hagan Way (the campus entrance off Maynard Street).
A session to help families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be held Thursday, March 19, at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The event, sponsored by the Financial Aid Office at Penn College, the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency and the Pennsylvania Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, will be offered from 5-7 p.m.
The Penn College Human Services Club and Empire Beauty School recently completed a benefit for Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization that fashions hairpieces for disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss. The December event was a great success, with more than 20 ponytails donated. The Human Services Club thanks Empire for its donation of time, space and talent.
"Saturday Night Live" co-star Kenan Thompson will perform at the Community Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, a one-night-only appearance sponsored by Pennsylvania College of Technology's Student Activities Office and the Arts Center.
Pennsylvania College of Technology students will compete for prizes in the fourth CalJava Wedding Cake Competition, designed by a world-renowned cake decorator for students enrolled in the college's baking and pastry arts classes. Following judging, the students' three-tiered cakes will be displayed for the public 1-3 p.m. March 5 and 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Penn College's Student Government Association hosted a faculty/dean Meet and Greet on Monday night in the SASC lobby. The event offered guests great food and conversation with members of SGA and with one another. "I was very pleased with the turnout and it was a pleasure to interact with the different members of the faculty, staff and administration," reflected association President Brian D.
Dental hygiene students and faculty from Pennsylvania College of Technology teamed with volunteer dental hygienists and dentists to provide free oral screenings, sealants, fluoride treatments and education for 65 children as part of the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists' Association's statewide Sealant Saturday program on Feb. 7.
