On Oct. 23, Pennsylvania College of Technology's SMART Girls will host 10th- and, for the first time, 11th-grade girls to encourage an ongoing interest in science and math. The college's Science and Math Applications in Real-World Technologies (SMART Girls) project was developed to counter the distressing tendency of girls to sidestep math and sciences as they enter adolescence.
The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host artist-in-residence Antonio Puri on campus Oct. 17-22. The gallery will exhibit his work, in a collection titled "I Am," Oct. 7 to Nov. 7.

The graduating college class of 2010, like the previous two graduating classes,is facing a challenging job market. According to a 2009 survey from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, only 19.7 percent of that year's graduates who applied for a job had one by the time they graduated. That's in contrast to 51 percentin 2008!

Pennsylvania College of Technology alumnus Alfonse Ciaccio will return to The Gallery at Penn College on Oct. 10 to present "Music of the Modern Masters." Ciaccio, a 1993 graduate, will perform at 1:30 p.m. as part of the gallery's "In Perfect Harmony" concert series.
Penn College, once again included on the list of G.I. Jobs' "Military Friendly Schools" this year, was represented at Friday's Veterans & Military Personnel Resource Fair at the Community Arts Center. Sponsored by state Rep. Rick Mirabito (a member of the college's board of directors), the 9-a.m.-to-2-p.m.
An estimated 400 families took part in Parent & Family Weekend, held Friday through Sunday on Penn College's main campus. The Student Activities Office arranged for a number of exciting events such as social activities, entertainment, interactive educational workshops and tours of the Williamsport area.
The Wildcat women's volleyball team thanks everyone who came to its Pink-Out Tie-Dye event Monday night. With the help of Field House staff (including Angel V. Stroud, Lisa J. Worth and Jeremy R. Bottorf), and equipment supplied by Penn College General Services, the rear storage area of the building was transformed into a tie-dye party.
More than 45 Penn College graduates and their guests joined Chef Paul Mach, assistant professor of hospitality management/culinary arts, on the Alumni Relations Office's fourth annual bus trip to the Keuka Lake Wineries on Saturday.
