The Early Educators Club at Pennsylvania College of Technology will host a lecture by the education coordinator of a preschool for low-income children in Rwanda. Janet Brown, who helped establish the Cyakabiri School for Young Children in April, will offer a talk that is open to the public at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 in the college's Thompson Professional Development Center.

Everyone knows manners are important, but what if dinner etiquette could jump-start your career? A "Dining for Success" Etiquette Dinner, hosted by Career Services and the Alumni Relations Office and attended by 43 students and 10 mentors was held Tuesday evening at Le Jeune Chef Restaurant.

The role of timber management in maintaining Penn's Woods will be discussed by Eric C. Easton, a forestry instructor at Pennsylvania College of Technology, during the Fall 2011 Madigan Library Forum. The free public forum, "Timber Now and Then: The History of Timber Management in Pennsylvania," will be held from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the library's second-floor reading loft.

Combining fun, stress relief and seasonal comfort food, the Inter-Fraternity Council sponsored a "Pumpkin Bust" on the Thompson Professional Development Center lawn Tuesday. Team members lobbed pumpkins to one another in a variation on that old standby, the "egg toss," aiming for the greatest distance with the least mess.

About 50 children of Penn College students, employees and alumni attended Wednesday's "Trick-or-Treat Night at The Village," co-sponsored by the Alumni Relations and Residence Life offices.

Phi Mu Delta and PC Alliance co-sponsored "A Mile in Her Shoes," a benefit walk that combined fundraising with presentations about domestic abuse. Participants were encouraged to wear women's heels, an inch or higher, on their Tuesday afternoon stroll along Penn College's campus mall.

Students enjoyed a hauntingly happy Halloween Candy "Boo-fay" in Penn's Inn on Tuesday, a free event hosted by Dining Services. Spooky servings of root beer-flavored worms, gummy eyeballs and candy spiders highlighted the second annual frightfest, as well as favorites such as Skittles, M&M's and Smarties.

Penn College history professor William J. Astore took his audience on an inspirational cinematic journey Monday night, offering "Last Scenes of a Cinephile" as the fourth annual speaker in the David London My Last Words Lecture Series.
