Pennsylvania College of Technology was the recent host of FIRST Tech Challenge's Pennsylvania Championship Tournament, providing a home and a small army of volunteers for a day full of high-level robotics competition among high school teams from seven states. Thirty teams of enterprising ninth- to 12th-grade students, surrounded by supporters, filled Penn College's Field House on Feb.

Pennsylvania College of Technology students vied for their share of more than 2,400 full-time jobs and internship positions at the Spring Career Fair, impressing a variety of employers – including 26 Fortune 500 companies – at three locations: the Schneebeli Earth Science Center and Bardo Gymnasium on Tuesday, and the Lumley Aviation Center on Wednesday morning.

Just like every rainbow leads to glittering riches, any community event even in its inaugural year holds a Penn College connection. Downtown Williamsport's first St. Patrick's Day Parade clearly was no exception, as students and the college's Wildcat mascot were among those joining in the Gaelic gaiety of a sunny Saturday jaunt.

More than 100 students, family and friends packed Penn's Inn on St. Patrick's Day for a Saturday night of fashion and fun. The Multicultural Society and PCAlliance joined forces to host their annual Fashion Show. Students modeled clothing representing their country, Penn College gear even '80's attire! In an unsurprising display of collegial spirit and benevolence, more than 120 members of the Penn College family attended a Thursday fundraiser for a community garden project planned at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center.

Art and science intersect in The Gallery at Penn College, where a Thursday reception officially opened the " Out of This World: Landscapes of Our Solar System" exhibit. Located on the third floor of the Madigan Library, the gallery is open from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, 2-7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday (closed Saturday and Monday).

Musical entertainment and civic responsibility intersected Thursday evening in the Field House, where bands and free pizza provided additional incentive for electoral participation. The "Rock the Vote" event organized by nursing student Amanda L. Twigg, of Dallastown, with guidance from Sara R.

From March 3-11, the School of Construction and Design Technologies participated in the Pennsylvania Home Show at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. The venue offered a twofold opportunity: to showcase Penn College majors to prospective students and their families, and to network with alumni visitors and contractors.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology community is invited to help kick off the newest "Going Green" initiative – a campus garden – by joining the Penn College Diners Club and Dining Services for a steak dinner to benefit the project. Students, faculty and staff are welcome to stop by the Thompson Professional Development Center from 5-8 p.m. Thursday; reservations are not necessary.
