Close to 1,300 seventh- to ninth-graders and their chaperones attended Career Day, a semi-annual event presented May 14 by Pennsylvania College of Technology's Outreach for K-12 Office. College faculty and library volunteers offered more than 50 demonstrations, tours and hands-on activities for the visitors, who came from 17 schools in Lycoming and surrounding counties to explore careers.

Pennsylvania College of Technology held three commencement ceremonies at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport on May 11-12 for more than 960 students who petitioned to graduate following the Spring 2012 semester. At 3 p.m. Friday, the ceremony honored students from the schools of Industrial and Engineering Technologies, Integrated Studies, and Natural Resources Management.

The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host "Illuminations," an exhibit of works by Cathy Breslaw, from May 18 to June 28. Breslaw's work explores the possibilities of using familiar and accessible commercial materials to create art pieces that awaken the mind and spirit.

A recent exhibit at The Gallery at Penn College, coupled with the expertise of a Pennsylvania College of Technology physics professor, provided a fun, educational field trip for hundreds of area elementary and middle school students.

Twenty senior students in the graphic design major are displaying the faculty-chosen best of their Penn College portfolios during the " Design: 2012 " exhibit on the third floor of the Madigan Library through May 11. A public reception for the exhibit which features posters, book covers, magazine spreads and logos was held Friday. Remarks were given by Gary R.

Two formerly separate spring traditions the Wildcat Events Board's WEBstock festival and the Off-Campus Housing Organization's block party were combined into one jam-packed, fun-filled, crowd-pleasing extravaganza Friday. The hybrid event, held along Vine Avenue on the north side of Penn College's campus, included music, free food, novelties and games.

A mix of about 12 Penn College faculty members and students volunteered at the Susquehanna 500 Mini-Indy the local Red Cross's largest fundraising event that was postponed from September. Penn College automotive students and faculty from automotive and machining provided technical support for the race, in which teams comprised of businesses or individuals raise money for the Red Cross.

Penn College's School of Health Sciences hosted 110 participants at its annual preceptor eventFriday in Penn's Inn. The event which offers continuing education credits to those who attend, is part of the school's "thank you" for the health professionals who work closely with students while they are educated at clinical and fieldwork sites.
