Alumnus Jeffrey L. Erdly, a longtime benefactor of Pennsylvania College of Technology with a distinguished career in the construction industry, was recently presented with an award by ASTM International, recognizing an ASTM member who has made significant professional contributions to the field of building technology and/or to multidisciplinary technical problem-solving in the construction industry.

Ernie Dojack, of Concrete Countertop Solutions, recently provided information and live demos to concrete science technology students enrolled in a Decorative Concrete class. Dojack, who has 15-plus years in the industry, showcased the difference between cast-in-place concrete countertop systems and precast concrete countertop methods and products.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is the recipient of a car that will serve as an instructional resource and a marketing vehicle. Volkswagen Group of America and Ciocca Automotive have donated a 2018 VW Tiguan to the college. The value of the car is $21,391.

Students and faculty from Pennsylvania College of Technology collected plenty of hardware at the recent Toyota Green Grand Prix in Watkins Glen, New York. The college contingent – consisting mainly of students from the Penn College Motorsports Association – garnered several awards at the 21st annual event, held at the Watkins Glen International race course.

Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the only international honor society for computing and information disciplines, welcomed nine new members to the Pennsylvania College of Technology chapter during a recent induction ceremony. The new members are the sixth class to be inducted at Penn College.

Dorothy J. Gerring, associate professor of architecture at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was a keynote speaker at the recent Pennsylvania Housing Research Center Housing Conference.

Students studying welding and electrical at North West Regional College, in Derry, Northern Ireland, arrived at Pennsylvania College of Technology on Tuesday. The 10 NWRC students and two faculty will explore campus and the region through April 21. The first day kicked off with a welcome from Penn College President Michael J. Reed, followed by an interview with WNEP-TV.

Pennsylvania College of Technology students were perfect at the recent SkillsUSA Pennsylvania championships in Hershey. All 11 students representing the school captured first place in their respective competitions, earning a trip to nationals.
