In a video recently produced by Penn College, Jack C. Dincher, instructor of electrical/mechatronics, highlights the ongoing buildout of the newest mechatronics lab, housed in the college’s Electrical Technologies Center.

Three members of Penn College’s Pennsylvania Xi Chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society organized a drive to collect first aid items for a medical clinic in Kenya. The students worked diligently to collect thousands of dollars’ worth of items, including thermometers, syringes, gloves, suturing and catheter kits, surgical supplies, stethoscopes and more.

Pennsylvania College of Technology recently received a $75,000 grant from a major North American energy company. TC Energy Corp., through its Build Strong program, awarded the grant in support of mechatronics education and the college’s dual-enrollment efforts.

Penn College alumnus Lauryn Stauffer strolled down memory lane and into the Tomorrow Makers podcast studio to share her full-circle moments in education in “Her Perfect Pathway.” Returning for the recent Wildcat Weekend with her Penn College pup Milo in tow, the 2023 robotics & automation graduate and “born teacher” shares how she’s passing the torch and lighting her students’ sparks at Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School, the same career and technical school where it all started for her.

Before diving into summer, Penn College News takes a look back at a spring semester highlight: the two-week visit by our new friends from Northern Ireland's North West Regional College. The contingent of 12 students and two faculty members visited Penn College early last month. Half of the group is studying cybersecurity at NWRC, with the others focused on engineering.

Pennsylvania College of Technology electronics and automation students are known for inventive senior projects. The arduous capstone requires students to develop, design, justify and build a tangible product to impress faculty and an industry advisory board. Among the commendable work for this year’s projects: a plastic modular prosthetic arm and an automated impact tester for polymer engineering.

A dozen students from North West Regional College, in Northern Ireland, recently wrapped up a two-week visit to Pennsylvania College of Technology, where they sat in on classes and dove into local culture.

A manufacturer of fiber optic and copper network cabling has endowed a scholarship at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Leviton recently presented the college with a $25,000 gift to establish the scholarship. The donation places the company – a Corporate Tomorrow Maker – in the Ambassadors Society ($25,000-$49,999) on the college’s Donor Wall.

For the second consecutive year, a contingent of students from Northern Ireland will visit Pennsylvania College of Technology as part of a cultural exchange program. Twelve students and two faculty from North West Regional College are scheduled to be in the area April 2-16 and spend most of that time on the Penn College campus.
