Thirty Pennsylvania College of Technology students representing a variety of majors obtained valuable industry certifications in 2025-26 related to engineering design.
The students earned their certifications by passing exams focused on SolidWorks, a parametric 3D computer-aided design and engineering software used to create, simulate and manufacture products.
Alec M. Reed, of Lewisburg, and Jonas N. Stiefel, of Selinsgrove, passed the SolidWorks Certified Professional Exam, which proves advanced use of the software. Reed is majoring in engineering CAD technology and Stiefel is seeking a degree in engineering design technology.
The remaining students passed the Certified SolidWorks Associate exam, which demonstrates proficient knowledge of the software. Those students are:
Engineering design technology: Seth A. Alderfer, Telford; Stone P. Allison, Watsontown; Jake B. Arnold, West Chester; Austin N. Bruner, Kittanning; Jacob H. Buck, Hughesville; Lex R. Dixon, Altoona; Jorden W. Duck, Lock Haven; Chloe A. Kirk, Athens; Seth J. Priestman, Bloomsburg; Madoxx D. Reed, Warren; Michael R. Reed, Marion Heights; Jonathan Trimble, Parkesburg; and Hunter R. Whitney, Elizabethtown.
Engineering CAD technology: Garret R. Bauer, St. Marys; Mickey B. Chilson, Millerton; Carmine J. Gabriela, Pocono Lake; Cole T. Kaufman, Portage; Justin W. Knee, South Williamsport; Rebekah E. Mang, New Holland; and Toney D. Mason Jr., Hershey.
Welding & fabrication engineering technology: Josiah P. Chiles, Hickory, North Carolina; Brody L. Landheer, Granby, Connecticut; and Todd W. Varley, Milford.
Also passing the exam: Bryce E. Angle, Fayetteville (mechatronics technology and automation engineering technology); Patrick I. Deering, Stafford, Virginia (manufacturing engineering technology); Jacob T. Doutt, Summit Hill (automated manufacturing technology); Brian P. Inman, York (electronics & computer engineering technology); and Chase E. Stoltzfus, Gap (accounting).
“We are incredibly proud of our students’ accomplishments,” said Craig A. Miller, assistant professor and department head of engineering design technology. “Earning SolidWorks certification demonstrates that they are developing the skills today’s industries demand while gaining a valuable credential that gives them a competitive advantage in the job market.”
