Asesh K. Das, professor of information technology in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Business and Computer Technologies, recently was nominated by former students to be included in the 11th edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." "(It's a) great, deep honor for a teacher," said Das, who continues as a multiple-year nominee, having been honored annually since 2004.

Laura M. Dickinson, associate professor of English-composition at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently nominated for inclusion in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers and Educators." Her biography will appear in the 11th edition of the book, which honors teachers who have been nominated by former students.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality will host "A Farewell Tribute to Peter Hellermann," longtime general manager of the school's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, on Sept. 10. Frederick Frank, president of the award-winning Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars, will be the guest vintner in a fitting tribute to Hellermann as he retires.

Three members of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Phi Beta Lambda chapter and a faculty adviser attended the 2007 National Leadership Conference in Chicago from June 20-27. Two of the students gained high honors in the Awards of Excellence program held June 26. Matthew P.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is ranked in the top 50 associate-degree-producing colleges in the nation and is in the top 20 for several areas of study-- including three top-five rankings-- in a recent survey conducted by a national publication covering community, technical and junior colleges.

Penn College faculty members Roy P. Fontaine, professor of psychology; Curt E. Vander Vere, assistant professor of mathematics, and Tom A. Zimmerman, associate professor of psychology, completed the National Science Foundation course "Ancient Inca Mathematics and Culture" this month.

While helping to staff the Bread Bakers Guild of America's annual Camp Bread in San Francisco, School of Hospitality faculty members Monica J. Lanczak and Charles R. Niedermyer took part in building what the guild believes is the tallest bread sculpture ever made. The sculpture is 10 feet, 2 inches high and approximately 4 feet in diameter.
