Rather than disposing of books that have outlived their usefulness, The Gallery at Penn College and The Madigan Library invited students to upcycle old books into unique works of art for the second installation of “Old Books/New Lives: The Art of Upcycling.” The student showcase is being held in conjunction with the national juried exhibition, “Books Undone 2: The Art of Altered Books” in the gallery on the third floor of Penn College's library. The exhibits are on display through July 21.

With Monday night’s thrilling 2-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers in Game 7, the Florida Panthers earned their first Stanley Cup, and 2018 Penn College graphic design grad Austin Fulton earned an accompanying championship ring.

Montoursville Area High School student Mason Morrow won first place – and the grand prize of a $10,000 scholarship to Pennsylvania College of Technology – in the 2023-24 Dream-Learn-Pitch competition. Dream-Learn-Pitch, administered by nonprofit Brighter Financial Futures/Pennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy, provides high school and middle school students with an opportunity to innovate and gain exposure to the world of entrepreneurship and small business.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Chef Charles R. Niedermyer recently led an eight-hour class for artisan baking professionals at the Bread Bakers Guild of America’s annual Camp Bread, held over three days in Providence, Rhode Island. Niedermyer’s class was among those featured in Bake Magazine's coverage of the event.

A new “ingredient” was added to the brewing & fermentation science capstone with the addition of an informal tasting session in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant and the major’s lab, both located in the Hager Lifelong Education Center at Penn College. The gathering was attended by the graduating students’ families and friends, industry professionals, brewing alumni, and college employees.

Pennsylvania College of Technology conducted three commencement ceremonies on May 10-11 for about 725 students who completed academic requirements during the Spring 2024 semester. Here is a quick sprint through the ceremonies. (Sprints were many as graduates and guests dodged raindrops both days but enjoyed interludes of sunshine and overflowing pride and joy.) Graphic design students and alumni from Pennsylvania College of Technology netted 20 awards in the 2023-24 American Advertising Awards Competition presented by the Northeast Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Advertising Federation. Penn College designs captured seven gold awards, eight silvers and five honorable mentions.
