Pennsylvania College of Technology's nursing program has received grants from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Foundation and Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania to help students pay for college expenses. The nursing program was awarded $149,000 from PHEF for the 2007-08 academic year.
Representatives of Penn College's eight academic schools, as well as alumni and admissions personnel, were a popular attraction during the 92nd Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg this month.
Robert C. Dietrich has been named executive director of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation. Established in 1981, the foundation is a nonprofit organization that seeks to secure financial and other support for the college. The foundation's activities include providing student scholarships and other financial assistance, fundraising, and general promotion of the college.
The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host "Planes of Aspiration," an exhibit of paintings by Maureen Drdak, from Jan. 15 to Feb. 12. An opening reception for the exhibit will take place Tuesday, Jan. 22, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., with a talk by the artist scheduled at 5:30 p.m.
A photo of The Madigan Library was selected by the editors of Library Journal for inclusion in its annual architectural issue published in December. In its 132nd year of publication, Library Journal is the oldest and most respected publication covering the library field.
The Practical Nursing Program at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus recently held a graduation ceremony for 22 students. The student-selected speakers for the Dec. 20 event were Robin Crosby, a registered nurse at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, and Carol Kopp, a registered nurse at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro. On Tuesday, Jan. 22, the Pennsylvania College of Technology Financial Aid Office will sponsor a Veterans Information Program for student veterans, faculty/staff and the general public. The seminar will be held from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Penn's Inn in the Bush Campus Center.

After a monthlong semester and holiday break, Pennsylvania College of Technology women's and men's basketball teams return to action Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, against NCAA Division III opponents. At 7 p.m. on Tuesday, the Penn College women, 7-2 overall, will face crosstown rival Lycoming College at Lycoming's Lamade Gymnasium.
