William Ma, professor of mathematics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has published two research papers jointly with a University of Cincinnati professor. The papers by Ma and David Minda, who is the Charles Phelps Taft professor of mathematics at the University of Cincinnati, appeared in The Journal of Analysis, Volume 15 (2007).

A Pennsylvania College of Technology student reported being robbed at gunpoint at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of an off-campus apartment in the 900 block of Second Street. The incident was reported to the Williamsport Bureau of Police,which is investigating. The student was not injured. The suspects were described astwo black males wearing hooded sweatshirts.

A session to help families understand how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, sponsored by the Financial Aid Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, on the college's main campus in Williamsport. The instructional session will begin at 10 a.m.

Students from four area colleges are invited to compete in the third annual Quad College & University Business Plan Challenge, an opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to hone their business acumen before launching a company. The competition is open to any registered student at Pennsylvania College of Technology, Lycoming College, and Mansfield and Lock Haven universities.

Pennsylvania College of Technology received grant funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to continue its New Choices/New Options program, which assists single parents, displaced homemakers and individuals in transition in achieving economic self-sufficiency.

Customers now are able to purchase whole pizzas from Fresh, the Food Services dining unit located on the first floor of the ATHS. Orders for whole pizzas may be placed for pickup between 4-9 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Customers can order a cheese pizza for $8.50, pepperoni pizza for $10.25 and the day's specialty pizza for $13.95. Orders can be placed in person at the dining unit.

For those wishing to sharpen their computer skills and avoid winter boredom, Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro will offer several easy-to-learn computer courses beginning in February. The courses are taught by qualified instructors at a comfortable pace for all levels of adult learners. The small, noncredit classes are held from 6 to 9 p.m.

Thirteen students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Natural Resources Management passed the Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator Certification exam offered at the college's Schneebeli Earth Science Center near the close of the Fall 2007 semester.
