Penn College recently celebrated the conclusion of its 2025-26 Youth Leadership Program, which brought representatives from six Lycoming County high schools to campus each week to develop leadership skills and interact with local service organizations.
Under the mentorship of Student Engagement employees, the 18 participants – all high school juniors – made an impact in the community by leading clothing drives in their schools and then sorting and donating the clothing at Dwell Orphan Care, packing more than 200 boxes at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s Williamsport branch, and making candy and decorating fidget spinners for children in area hospitals at United Churches of Lycoming County. The group also learned and served at Rider Park and YWCA Northcentral PA.
“We saw with our own eyes the work people do every day to make this a great country,” said Montoursville Area High School student Paige Rosenbaum, one of two student speakers at the program’s graduation dinner. “We learned how to listen and rely on people and how to allow them to rely on us.”
