Penn College hosts successful Take Your Child to Work Day

Thursday, May 28, 2026

Pennsylvania College of Technology recently hosted 36 children for Take Your Child to Work Day.

Fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade youth heard from President Michael J. Reed before jumping into a “Mix & Mingle Bingo” icebreaker activity. The event was strongly supported by General Services, Student Engagement, Strategic Marketing & Communications, and Workforce Development Building Performance. Throughout the morning, students were accompanied by People & Culture staff at five stations, where they enjoyed hands-on activities designed to get them moving, thinking and creating.

  • “Watt’s Up? The Science of Clean Energy,” presented by Workforce Development: Attendees explored a home with cool tools like an infrared camera and tried exciting experiments with ice, water, air and heat.
  • “Birds of a Feather,” presented by General Services: Kids learned how to help local birds by building their very own birdhouses. Participants discovered which birds live in the area, why birdhouses are important and how the right design helps birds stay safe.
  • “Sprouts and Sports,” presented by General Services and Student Engagement: Students enjoyed active play while learning about plants and flowers. The session combined yard games with hands-on horticulture activities, during which children designed and created their own take-home floral creation.
  • “Lights, Logo, Action!,” presented by Strategic Marketing & Communications: Through games, pictures and hands-on activities, students explored how colors, logos, slogans and storytelling help companies share their ideas. They created their own mini advertising campaign and earned a “Brand Builder in Training” certificate.
