Over the weekend, Penn College Police Officer Jeffrey E. Kriner was among local law enforcement personnel taking part in a special back-to-school tradition. He joined officers from the Williamsport Bureau of Police, Pennsylvania State Police and Lycoming County Sherriff’s Office to partner with 10 local students for the third annual “Shop With a Cop” event at Target.

The young shoppers had the chance to pick out everything from school supplies and clothing to snacks and games, making sure they are ready to start the school year with confidence.

"This was my second time participating in Shop With a Cop, and for me I love interacting with the kids," Kriner said. "They start out thinking we are just shopping, but by the end, there is a new confidence in police, and they just had an experience with an officer they will never forget."

The program is made possible through a grant awarded to the Williamsport Police and the YWCA of Northcentral PA, whose support helped ensure the students had the opportunity to enjoy a fun and meaningful day.

According to the Williamsport Bureau of Police, the event is a rewarding opportunity for officers to connect with students and help them prepare for success in the upcoming school year, all while having a little fun along the way.
