About the Camp
Do you love unique and rare cars? Do you want to learn how to preserve antique cars from 1900’s-1975? Campers will learn what it takes to return vintage cars and trucks to their former glory, while they immerse themselves in the world of automotive restoration. Workshops include sheet metal forming, upholstery, pin striping, paint simulation, and more! Campers will get to keep what they create in the metal forming and upholstery workshops. Also, included in this camp is a field trip to the Eagles Mere Auto Museum where over 75 cars from the 1950’s and 1960’s are on display.
Automotive Restoration Workshops
Introduction to Automotive Upholstery
Learn from a master craftsman in the field of automotive upholstery! During this hands-on workshop, each camper will learn how to restore a seat cushion and get to keep their project.
Introduction to Metal Forming and Sheet Metal Working
Learn how to cut, form, and shape metal to produce a fender similar to metal working in the automotive restoration industry. This hands-on workshop is led by Penn College faculty, and campers will get to keep the small metal fender they create!
Ford Model T Experience
The Ford Model T is regarded as the first affordable automobile and the car that made travel possible for the middle class. Campers will learn the history and care of this type of vehicle and go for a spin in the College-owned Model T.
Pin Striping and Paint Simulator
Do you have a steady hand? Campers will learn the fine art of pin striping and paint designs in the automotive industry. Test your ability on the College’s paint simulator, which evaluates the user’s ability to use a paint spray gun.
