Men's and women's basketball teams, the men's volleyball team and archers all saw action last week for Pennsylvania College of Technology. While it marked the start of the season for archery and volleyball, the basketball players are headed into the final two weeks of their regular seasons.
With 1,430 points, senior Greg Solyak has sealed his place at the top of the Penn College men's basketball all-time leading scorers list. Solyak achieved the honor against Penn State Wilkes-Barre on Thursday night. He only needed 15 points to capture the title; he ended up scoring 18. Alumnus Joe Simon, who graduated last year, previously held the honor with 1,425 points.
This week marks the beginning of Black History Month. Student Activities' full lineup of events includes a Town Hall discussion on the impact of rap music, the Cure the Blues music festival, movie screenings of Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls" and much more.
