“Powering Pennsylvania” is the theme for the 109th Pennsylvania Farm Show, and Pennsylvania College of Technology will be in attendance, sharing its empowering possibilities. Set for Jan. 4-11 at the Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg, the largest indoor agricultural event in the country attracts hundreds of vendors and thousands of exhibitors showcasing their skills. The show welcomes farmers, families and food lovers. Admission is free.

Connecting the next generation of diesel technicians with their future mentors and employers, Pennsylvania College of Technology’s fourth annual Diesel Technology Competition hosted 24 participants from 13 career and technical education centers in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Connecticut.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s mathematics department was featured at the Mathematical Association of America’s MathFest, held recently in Indianapolis. One of the largest gatherings of mathematical professionals, the conference offers the opportunity to explore new and emerging trends in the discipline.

The elves at Penn College’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center have been busy working their magic this month, and as the semester comes to a close, Penn College News is happy to share a few photos of the mischief and merriment stirred up by these cheerful employees – plus one student masquerading as Santa Claus.

As part of an initiative to increase digital access across the commonwealth of Pennsylvania, The Madigan Library at Pennsylvania College of Technology will receive 40 laptop computers that will enhance access and digital literacy for students. Penn College is among organizations in Bradford, Lycoming and Union counties benefiting from the latest round of awards through the Digital Connectivity Technology Program, an initiative of the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority.

The Community Arts Center is pleased to announce it is the recipient of a $5,000 donation from Woodlands Bank through the Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit program. The funding will support the CAC’s approved programs, which include the Student Summer Stock, Educational Series and The Nutcracker production.

Penn College’s Student Government Association closed out the fall semester with meetings that covered a range of student engagement and campus wellness topics and also presented the opportunity to socialize with the vice president for academic affairs and provost. 

An interactive workshop conceived and co-presented by Ellyn A. Lester, Pennsylvania College of Technology’s assistant dean of construction and architecture, drew a standing-room only crowd of industry leaders at the Construction Management Association of America’s annual convention, held recently in San Francisco.

Stanley G. Boler, a retired Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member, died Dec. 15 at the age of 78. A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at West & Parrish & Pedigo Funeral Home, in Spencer, Indiana. Boler retired from Penn College in 2012 as an associate professor of electronics. He joined the college faculty in 1987.
