Thanks to an agreement between a private, liberal arts college and a public college of technology, advanced education in dental hygiene is now available in the Philadelphia area. Starting this fall, Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer its bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene at Harcum College, in Bryn Mawr.

The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology has accredited Pennsylvania College of Technology's plastics and polymer engineering technology and surveying technology majors. Mack Trucks Inc. and Pennsylvania College of Technology have formed an alliance to offer an associate degree in diesel technology, with an emphasis on Mack components. The degree program is the only one of its kind in the nation involving an integrated heavy-duty truck manufacturer and an accredited college. It is slated to begin in Fall 1997.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has received $100,000 through the Caterpillar Excellence Fund, a partnership among the Caterpillar Foundation, participating dealers and schools. There are only three other regional partnerships in the country that were funded at that maximum amount. The Caterpillar Foundation contributed $50,000 and three dealers collectively matched the amount.
