Come out Friday or Saturday as Residence Life, Student Activities, Penn College's Sexual Awareness Week Committee and Lycoming College's Women's and Gender Studies Program bring "The Vagina Monologues" to the Community Arts Center in a talk-show setting "Let's Talk Va Jay-Jay." The show opens at 7 p.m.

Abdul B. Pathan, professor of economics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently presented a paper at the 18th annual conference on "Teaching Economics, Instruction and Classroom Based Research." Pathan presented his paper, "Make Economics Interesting to Students by Using Real-Life Examples," to about 75 participants, all faculty members from colleges and universities around the country.

A faculty member in Pennsylvania College of Technology's drafting and computer aided design department recently passed an eight-hour examination to become a Certified SolidWorks Professional. Jeffrey D. Mather became one of 23 professionals in Pennsylvania to earn Certified SolidWorks Professional status when he took the test during the SolidWorks World 2007 User Conference and Exposition Feb.

For those who enjoy the outdoors and want to learn how to backpack or rock-climb, Pennsylvania College of Technology is offering Introduction to Backpacking and Rock Climbing 101 courses this spring at its North Campus near Wellsboro. Introduction to Backpacking is a fun, six-week noncredit course geared toward the novice.

Adults 55 and older who want to learn more about using computers for fun and convenience may enroll in a noncredit course being offered in March at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro. This easy beginner's class, which is offered through Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Penn College, introduces the computer for enjoyment purposes.

Students and employees at Pennsylvania College of Technology, a partner in Lycoming County Big Read 2007, are taking on projects to support the initiative. The National Endowment for the Arts is funding the The Big Read in communities across the nation, aiming to rejuvenate interest in literary reading. For the program here, facilitated by the Lycoming County Library System/James V.

In honor of Black History Month, the Multicultural Society (in collaboration with the Student Activities Office) hosted a Gospel Choir Concert and Step Dance show in the ACC Auditorium on Saturday. The event was open to the public and well-attended. The singing was quite uplifting and the dancing was very energizing.

Information Technology Services announces the rollout of a new communication tool for Penn College employees: Microsoft Office Communicator. Communicator is an instant-messaging program that allows employees to have real-time text conversations with on-campus co-workers.
