Boiled down, attitude and teamwork are the essentials for a successful season, according to Pennsylvania College of Technology men's volleyball coach Wes Strayer. How it plays out this year for the Wildcats remains to be seen. Penn College opens its season at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bardo Gymnasium on West Third Street hosting Susquehanna University and Juniata College.

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, in which Pennsylvania College of Technology students prepare income-tax returns at no cost, will offer three Fridays of by-appointment-only help to Northern Tier residents this season. The program will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 20, March 20 and April 3 at Penn College's North Campus, along Route 6 between Wellsboro and Mansfield.

The first meeting of the Marcellus Shale Industry Partnership, formed to address the natural-gas industry's workforce needs in conjunction with the exploration of potential gas reserves within the region's Marcellus Shale formation, was held Monday on Pennsylvania College of Technology's main campus.

The Gallery at Penn College will offer a free, hands-on printmaking demonstration from 1:30-3 p.m. Friday in conjunction with the exhibit, "60x60: Small Prints from Purdue University Galleries." A student assistant will demonstrate the technique of relief printing and offer attendees the opportunity to make a print from a woodcut block that has been pre-carved.

Did you know there are many uses for this versatile product? From cleansers, to odor controllers, to absorbing moisture, baking soda can take the place of many more toxic products that we use on a daily basis.

A radio interview with Craig Martin, director of Purdue University Galleries and curator of the current exhibit in the Gallery at Penn College, was broadcast Jan. 19 as part of WVIA's "ArtScene" program with Erika Funke. The exhibition, "60 x 60: Small Prints From Purdue University Galleries," runs through Feb. 3 on the third floor of the Madigan Library.

Penn College's Student Government Association greets the spring semester with the "SGA News," a regular compilation of information to its campus audience. Among the topics in the inaugural edition are upcoming Executive Board elections, openings for senator and committee positions, and a report from the association's first "paperless" weekly meeting.
