Penn College hosted a reception Tuesday for students, alumni, faculty and staff who have served in the military, an event highlighted by dedication of a college banner displayed at Forward Operating Base Mehtar Lam in Afghanistan at the request of student Robert A. Miller during his service there.

Students remained on holiday break Monday, but Penn College's main campus was abuzz with varied construction activity on their behalf. The college's $45.27 million Stage X Building Program includes the new Dauphin Hall residential area on the west end, which will provide housing for about 250 students.

Through the end of April, Le Jeune Chef Restaurant is hosting a display of Susquehanna Life magazine covers. A forest technology student in Penn College's School of Natural Resources Management has been awarded a $75 scholarship by the Council of Eastern Forest Technician Schools for his grade-point average. Derek J. Peterson, of Corry, was among the recipients chosen from CEFTS member institutions, which include nearly 30 schools with forest technology programs in the eastern United States and Canada.

The state Senate Majority Policy Committee held a public hearing Thursday in Penn College's Thompson Professional Development Center on issues surrounding the potential Marcellus Shale gas reserves.
