Tom Little of Beacon Falls, Conn., a graduate of Woodland Regional High School, has been named Penn College's "Student-Athlete of the Week" for Feb. 9-16. A 6-foot-2 junior forward civil engineering student on the men's basketball team, Little scored 14 points and had 10 rebounds in the Wildcats' game against Penn State Abington Feb. 9.

The Facilities Committee of Governance reminds all employees and students who use campus smoking areas to be responsible for keeping their smoke away from building entrances and ventilation ducts. This polite reminder of smoking policy is offered in the best interest of everyone's health and safety. Thank you for your cooperation and concern for others.

Douglas M. Sherry, a part-time instructor of sociology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently published reviews in a variety of scholarly journals. Sherry's book review of David Farber's "Taken Hostage: The Iran Hostage Crisis and America's First Encounter With Radical Islam" was published in the December 2007 issue of the Journal of American Culture.

Le Jeune Chef Restaurant will host a sale of fresh, student-produced baked goods Tuesdays and Fridays from 2-4 p.m. (or while supplies last). Prices for the products, which are made by baking and pastry arts students during introductory skills labs, range from $1 to $5. The variety of breads and desserts will change weekly during the semester, based on skills being taught in class.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will host a "Farmer-Buyer Networking Event" March 3 in the college's Thompson Professional Development Center. The daylong event is a project of Valleys of the Susquehanna Buy Fresh Buy Local campaign.

Art and music combine in a fitting arena on Feb. 24 with an afternoon of classical guitar music to kick off "In Perfect Harmony: The Concert Series in The Gallery at Penn College." Alphonse Ciaccio, a 1993 alumnus of Pennsylvania College of Technology, presents the series' inaugural concert in the gallery, on the third floor of the college's Madigan Library, at 2 p.m.

Pharmaceutical giant Bristol-Myers Squibb has established a scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology to support students in the college's aviation maintenance technology bachelor-degree major. The Bristol-Myers Squibb Scholarship Fund will make annual awards of $2,500 each to two students.

"Public Spaces of Europe," an exhibit of digital photographs by Gary Mesa-Gaido, will be displayed through March 14 in the Gallery at Penn College (Madigan Library, third floor). An opening reception was held Tuesday. Gallery hours are 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. All exhibits are free and open to the public.

Residents of the Rose Street Apartments enjoyed free pizza, drinks and snacks (supplied by Residence Life) and learned about issues facing college students who choose to be sexually active at a "Pizza and Condoms Party" held during Sexual Awareness Week. Resident Assistant Melissa Dobson created a unique way to meet her residents and inform them of the dangers of irresponsible sexual activity.
