Forty seventh- and eighth-grade girls spent Saturday learning the significance of science and mathematics during Penn College's spring session of Science and Math Applications in Real-World Technologies for Girls (SMART Girls). The girls attended a variety of fun, hands-on workshops designed as a springboard to careers in technology.
The student chapter of IEEE at Penn College hosted the organization's Region 2 Student Activities Conference on campus over the weekend. One hundred forty IEEE student members from 18 colleges in the region participated in a variety of electronics-related competition.

The American Red Cross was "extremely pleased" with the turnout for Wednesday's Bloodmobile at the Bush Campus Center, where a total of 192 individuals registered to give blood and 160 pints were collected falling short of the 170-pint goal, but still a huge success. Printmaker Brian D. Cohen's exhibit , "The Fool's Journey," continues through April 25 at The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of the Madigan Library. An opening reception, including a talk by the artist, was held Tuesday afternoon. Gallery hours are 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday.
