Friday's designation as "National Food Bank Day" serves to remind the Penn College community that The Cupboard – a food pantry on the first floor of the Bush Campus Center (Room 105H, at the rear of CC Commons) – is in operation this fall. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Cupboard is closed Saturdays and open from 4 to 6 p.m.

As the season slowly turns to autumn (with only occasional showers to alter the schedule), largely pleasant weather has allowed a variety of outdoor activities on Penn College's main campus.

Pennsylvania College of Technology students and employees are invited to The Gallery at Penn College to view “Victory for a Dime: The Fighting Comic Books of the Second World War.” The free exhibit can be viewed through Oct. 2 on Mondays 2 to 7 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays 1 to 7 p.m.; Wednesdays 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Fridays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s state-of-the-art Dental Hygiene Clinic is scheduling appointments for the fall semester. The clinic provides low-cost preventive dental hygiene services to the community, including cleanings, exams, X-rays and sealants. The clinic collaborates with area dental offices and can share records to prevent duplication of services.

Applications will be accepted through Sept. 10 for Lead-PCT, an eight-week student leadership experience that provides participants the opportunity to learn different leadership skills and apply them by developing a social change project proposal that directly benefits the Penn College community.

The Northeast PA Manufacturers & Employers Council and Pennsylvania College of Technology announced the first recipients of the YES Certificate Program Scholarship for the 2020-21 academic year. Six students from six school districts have earned the award. All have been certified through the YES Program and have chosen to further their education at Penn College.

Jodi F. Stiner, a part-time faculty member for Pennsylvania College of Technology’s physical therapist assistant program, recently received the Certified Stroke Rehabilitation Specialist credential. Stiner completed a 32-hour course conducted by Neurorecovery Unlimited, in collaboration with the American Stroke Association, followed by an online competency examination.
