PCToday continues its regular feature welcoming new full-time and regular part-time Pennsylvania College of Technology employees, as reported by the Human Resources Office. A variety of intramural activities have been announced for the Field House and other facilities. The Field House and outdoor basketball court/ice rink are located on the west end of the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus; the Field House is the location for indoor intramural activities and open gym. Aided by 28 first-time donors, an Oct. 15 Ameican Red Cross blood drive at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center netted 39 pints of blood. Three donors were deferred. Thanks to all those who helped make this a successful drive!
A member of the Pennsylvania College of Technology community has commented to PCToday about coverage given to political campaign events held in the city this week. PCToday received a college-to-college invitation from Lycoming College on Wednesday, asking our faculty, staff and students to feel welcome to participate in the campaign rally being held on that campus Thursday.
Even while its teams were competing in national tournaments, seven Pennsylvania College of Technology soccer players were named United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-Americans. Earning First-Team All-American honors for the Penn College women were Hannah McCracken (Williamsport), Bridget Metzger (Montoursville) and Chelsey Holmes (Hughesville).
Penn College Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) this week taught fundamental computer skills to residents of the Williamsport Home, an assisted-living complex at 1900 Ravine Road. Magdalena M. Szczesna and Christopher D. Erdman were appointed co-chairs of the project. As the Fall 08 semester began, SIFE formed a committee of students who would assist in completing this project.
Democratic vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden has a Penn College T-shirt as a memento of his Williamsport visit Thursday. Sarah R. Shott, an information technology: Web and applications development major from Tresckow, presented the Delaware senator with the shirt during his afternoon campaign appearance at Lycoming College.
As part of festivities surrounding the Governor's Awards for the Arts ceremony in Williamsport on Nov. 12, Pennsylvania College of Technology students will cater a pre-awards reception at the Community Arts Center. The students will serve about 300 invited guests. The awards ceremony begins shortly afterward in the Arts Center, when Gov. Edward G.
Music, food, costumes and good times were in bountiful supply at Wednesday's Harvest Fest, held in the Susquehanna Room. Sponsored by the Student Government Association, Residence Hall Association, Wildcat Events Board and the off-campus Community Assistants, the event included giveaways and a pumpkin-carving contest.
The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host Celtic fiddler Kathryn Brosky on Nov. 11 in conjunction with Williamsport Celebrates the Arts. Brosky will offer traditional Irish music, including jigs, reels and other toe-tapping dance music, from 8-9:30 p.m.
