Aviation maintenance technology students Justine R. Wareham, of Hollidaysburg, and Joshua E. Swanger, of Northumberland, won a contest to receive balloon rides during last weekend's Montoursville Rotary Fall Foliage Hot Air Balloon Festival. The students departed from Williamsport Regional Airport via balloon for a scenic Thursday float about the valley.

Weeks of preparation and tireless teamwork will culminate in this weekend's 11th annual Susquehanna 500 Mini-Indy competition, in which Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty/staff and students and a group of visitors from Mexico will continue their historic participation on behalf of the American Red Cross.

The New Choices/New Options program, a free career-development workshop at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will offer a new session beginning Oct. 1. The workshop will meet Monday through Thursday each week from Oct. 1-23 on Penn College's main campus in Williamsport.

From background checks to forensic accounting, a variety of informative topics will be discussed at Pennsylvania College of Technology in the coming weeks to mark October's designation as National Cyber Security Awareness Month. "Cyber security is a topic that concerns everyone. We need to take steps to provide a secure online environment for ourselves," said Lisa R.

Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality will learn about planning a menu, helping to run a kitchen, and satisfying the public in the school-operated Le Jeune Chef Restaurant this fall, as they take turns as student managers in the restaurant's kitchen. Students enrolled in two classes Regional American Cuisine, which offers fare from around the U.S.

Penn College will host a site review for continuing accreditation of its LPN, RN and baccalaureate nursing majors by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. A meeting will be held at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, in the Tiadaghton Room of the Thompson Professional Development Center. Anyone interested can meet the visiting team and share comments about the program in person.

During four of its past six seasons, women's soccer teams at Pennsylvania College of Technology have had winning campaigns and captured three championships. In fact, coach Kim Antanitis' first team last fall lost only once in 10 matches and won the Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference crown. But as good as that was, she's looking for more in building the program.

The Penn College Dance team for the 2007-08 has been announced.
