Dental hygiene students and faculty from Pennsylvania College of Technology teamed with volunteer dental hygienists and dentists to provide free oral screenings, sealants and education for 67 children as part of the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists' Association's statewide "Sealant Saturday" program on Feb. 2.
The Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors on Thursday approved an extension (through 2011-12) to the agreement with the Penn College Education Association. It is the fourth extension enacted for the agreement, which was first approved in August 2000. Previous extensions to the work agreement were approved in 2002, 2004 and 2006.
Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Penn College Education Association (the organization representing full-time teaching faculty, librarians and counselors at the college) will extend their current employment contract through 2011-12. The extension agreement was approved Thursday by the Penn College Board of Directors.
Jessica L. Tobias, a graphic design major from Cogan Station, has been chosen as the Student Government Association's latest Student of the Month. Visible on campus as president of the Penn College Motorsports Association and a student photographer with College Information and Community Relations, Tobias was characterized as an "exemplary model" of a Pennsylvania College of Technology student.

A crew from Allison Crane and Rigging rode to the top of the 120-foot flagpole near Penn College's main entrance on Wednesday morning, repairing a cable that snapped during Friday's ice storm. The college's General Services staff hoisted the 30- by 60-foot American flag − part of the national Flags Across America initiative − shortly thereafter.
All Penn College students are encouraged to use the swimming facilities at the Williamsport YWCA free! Just bring your Penn College ID, sign in at the Information Desk and enjoy your swim. Students also may participate in all swimming classes, including aqua aerobics, deepwater aerobics and more also free of charge. The Williamsport YWCA is at 815 W. Fourth St., just a 10-minute walk from campus.
More than 200 students from Penn College and Lycoming College attended Saturday's second Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball at the Acacia Club in downtown Williamsport. The free event was sponsored by both colleges, and shuttle transportation was offered to provide students with safe passage to and from the semiformal dance. The Gallery at Penn College will host a digital photo stitching workshop with one of this semester's featured gallery artists, Gary Mesa-Gaido, on Feb. 16. Mesa-Gaido, professor of art at Moorehead (Ky.) State University, will teach participants to digitally stitch a series of photographs together to create a cohesive, panoramic image.
