MSETC Issues Statewide Workforce Needs Assessment

The Marcellus Shale Education & Training Center has released a study assessing the direct workforce needs required to support Marcellus Shale development in Pennsylvania from 2011-14. The total number of direct jobs needed to keep pace with the growth of the industry is expected to range from 18,596 to 30,684, including 9,800 to 15,900 new positions.

Girls entering ninth, 10th and 11th grades stayed on Pennsylvania College of Technology's main campus July 10-14 to participate in the annual SMART Girls residential activity. The girls participated in workshops on campus to enhance their knowledge of nontraditional careers – and the usefulness of science and mathematics courses in those potential professions.

Artist's Reception Formally Opens Sculpture Exhibit
The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Madigan Library, presents " Bodies Under Pressure," a collection of sculptures by Douglas Tausik, through Aug. 21. The gallery hosted a Meet the Artist Reception, with comments from Tausik, on Thursday evening. Through July 31, the gallery is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. Regular hours resume Aug.

Participants in Penn College's summer Camp ESCAPE program visited Penn's Cave on Wednesday. The group went on the water cavern ride, where the temperature inside was a cool 52 degrees.
