Pennsylvania College of Technology held its Summer Commencement at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. Dylan G. Otis, presented with associate degrees in heavy construction equipment technology: technician emphasis and heavy construction equipment technology: operator emphasis, was the student speaker.

Pennsylvania College of Technology presented a Mentorship Award to alumna Andrea (Niklaus) Reed, director of nursing/patient safety, privacy and compliance officer at UPMC Susquehanna Muncy. The award was bestowed upon Reed by Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour during the Summer 2019 commencement ceremony, held Aug. 10 at the Community Arts Center.
Pennsylvania College of Technology has presented student achievement awards to its Summer 2019 graduates. A commencement ceremony was held Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport. Penn College is a special mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University.
Students in paramedic majors were led through a variety of hands-on rescue operations and tactical paramedic activities to wrap up the summer. The two-week training, led by the Central Area Fire Chiefs Association, included vehicle rescue and ropes rescue operations at the CAFCA training facility, confined-space rescue at Frito-Lay, and water rescue on Lycoming Creek and the Susquehanna River.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s expanded welding instructional facility will include laser welding, thanks in part to a partnership with Laserline Inc. The manufacturer of high-power industrial diode lasers for metals processing and other applications is entrusting a 2 kilowatt laser power source to the college, which will facilitate an operational laser cell for students.
Philip G. Berry has been appointed coordinator of matriculation and academic operations for the School of Construction & Design Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Berry previously served as an external records evaluator in the Registrar’s Office at the institution and brings a wealth of matriculation experience to his new role.
