Pennsylvania College of Technology recently hosted the 63rd annual meeting of the Pennsylvania Sociological Society. The theme for the conference, held Oct. 11-13, was “On Getting by with Change,” focusing on trends in modern society. Five Penn College faculty members participated in conference presentations.
Free tasting samples, made with ingredients available on-site, will be cooked and served at the Williamsport Growers Market on Oct. 26 by students in culinary arts and hospitality management majors at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The students are enrolled in a Catering course taught by Chef Michael J. Ditchfield, instructor of hospitality management/culinary arts.

A special display of hooked rugs has been arranged by The Gallery at Penn College during the Tiadaghton Quilt Guild’s biennial quilt show, taking place Oct. 18-20 in the Field House at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The rugs were created by the late Ruth Ann Van Horn, wife of Chalmer C. Van Horn, a professor emeritus of drafting at Penn College.

The family and friends of Jacob D. Parkes have established a scholarship to honor the Pennsylvania College of Technology student who died a year ago in an automobile accident. At the time of his death, Parkes, 21, of Lewisburg, was a senior majoring in business at Penn College.

Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s cross-country teams have won 10 consecutive conference championships and 11 of 12, and they seek continued success in Saturday’s 12:45 p.m. Penn State University Athletic Conference Championships at Penn State Scranton.
