Students eyeing careers in applied technology – particularly the manufacturing, health care and energy components of the American workforce – got authoritative guidance during a Pennsylvania College of Technology-hosted roundtable on April 7.

WELLSBORO, Pa. – Excellent career opportunities for licensed practical nurses exist in area hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, personal care facilities and human service organizations. Penn College at Wellsboro’s Practical Nursing Program will host two information sessions in April. The first session will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, and the second at 6:30 p.m.

An Emergency Medical Technician course, beginning the week of Aug. 15 and running through early December, will be offered at four locations by Workforce Development at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Nine people who completed a four-year registered apprenticeship program in mechatronics – the first cohort of Pennsylvania College of Technology apprentices to do so – graduated March 31 in an on-campus ceremony. All four of the Home Energy Professional training programs developed and administered by Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Clean Energy Center have been accredited by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council, making it one of 12 centers in the nation – and the only center in Pennsylvania – to earn that distinction.

CMT Materials has provided $5,000 in support of upgrades to a roll-fed thermoformer used for instructional purposes at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The company, based in Attleboro, Massachusetts, with additional sites in the Netherlands and Southeast Asia, is a Corporate Tomorrow Maker partner with Penn College.
