Invitations have been extended, and four Pennsylvania College of Technology athletic teams are headed to United States Collegiate Athletic Association national championships, according to Douglas Byerly, the college's director of athletics. After winning its first conference women's volleyball championship in 2004, Pennsylvania College of Technology has recorded three consecutive second-place finishes. "Senior Day" ceremonies, some held during last weekend's Homecoming activities, recently paid tribute to graduating athletes among Penn College's various varsity sports teams.

Eric J. Schall, a graduate of Jersey Shore Area High School, and Leonard C. Nicholas, a graduate of Abington High School, have been named Penn College's "co-Student-Athletes of the Week" for Oct. 5-12. Schall is a sophomore plastics and polymer engineering technology major and Nicholas a senior construction management major.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has presented Outstanding Varsity Athletic Alumni Awards to Chad L. Karstetter, of Salona, and Katlyn D. Stupar, of State College. The honors were bestowed Oct. 11 during Homecoming 2008 festivities at the college.

Friday night's Homecoming Powder Puff Game was an amazing seesaw matchup, but, in the end, College West/Rose Street ended up on top 21-14 over The Village/Campus View. The Village/Campus View team started the scoring with a touchdown pass from Jessica Houser to Kat Potacek. Step Karoulas then ran for a touchdown and the tie.

Wednesday's first-ever Homecoming flag football game was termed a "huge success" by intramural assistant Jeremy R. Bottorf, who coached the gray team and provided this summary: The gray team started the game with a long touchdown pass from Craig Flint to Gavin Mock to take the lead 7-0. The blue team, coached by Brian Walton, started driving the field, but came up short on fourth down.
