An oft-recorded standard from America's songbook romanticizes "April in Paris," and poet Robert Browning waxed poetically, "O, to be in England now that April's there." At PCToday, we see no need to travel to Europe – or anywhere else, pandemic or no – during this merry month of reawakening, as the sights of the season are plenty gorgeous in our Penn College backyard.

Penn College and UPMC Susquehanna partnered to offer a by-appointment COVID-19 vaccination clinic in the Field House on Friday, administering the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to hundreds of students, faculty and staff. Those who assume responsibility for cleaning up the commonwealth's roads under the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's Adopt-a-Highway program – and more than 3,500 volunteers have signed on for stewardship of nearly 8,000 miles to date – generally have their commendable hands full tending to litter pickup alone.

“Second Nature,” the current exhibit at The Gallery at Penn College, is attracting educational interest from students and faculty, including psychology, sociology, English composition and art classes. “Not a Breath of Wind” is the latest online exhibit being offered by The Gallery at Penn College. The virtual display of kinetic sculptures and carved objects runs March 16 through April 26 on the gallery’s website. Featuring images and videos, “Not a Breath of Wind” showcases works by John Douglas Powers, an associate professor of sculpture and time-based art at the University of Tennessee.

Organized by Student Affairs and championed through social media, the Penn College community raised its collective voice this week in the annual "Yellow It Out" observance. Students, faculty and staff were asked to wear yellow and share their photos using the #pcthope hashtag.

Eighteen students, including members of the Wildcat men’s soccer team, women’s basketball team and Theta Phi Alpha sorority, volunteered their time and wrote heartfelt and cheerful messages on Valentine’s Day cards for residents of the nearby Manor Care nursing facility, totaling more than 750 cards.
