Nearly 40 people of all ages visited The Gallery at Penn College on July 10 as part of the James V. Brown Library’s Summer Learning program. The program’s theme is “Color Our World,” and the library planned a visit to The Gallery’s aptly colorful “Five Artists” fiber arts exhibition.

About 100 visitors savored an afternoon of artistic exchange in The Gallery at Penn College, as the summer exhibition reception celebrated “Five Artists: Explorations and Conversation.” Gallery Director Penny Griffin Lutz, said, “Visitors enjoyed the gallery talk offered by the five artists on Sunday; they discussed techniques, studio practices, the medium of fiber and the special bond they have forged as a critique group."

WVIA’s “ArtScene with Erika Funke” spotlights the summer exhibition in The Gallery at Penn College in this interview with Penny Griffin Lutz, gallery director, and two of the artists featured in “Five Artists: Explorations & Conversations.” On display through July 24, the exhibition featured a reception on Sunday.

For nearly a decade, five Pennsylvania-based artists have met monthly to support and critique their works-in-progress. This productive and inspiring exploration of the creative process has built trust and respect. Their works will be on display in “Five Artists: Explorations and Conversation,” running June 4 through July 24 at The Gallery at Penn College. A reception is set for 2 to 4:30 p.m., Sunday, June 8, with a gallery talk at 3 p.m.

On the threshold of their graduation from Pennsylvania College of Technology, 18 architecture & sustainable design seniors showcased their four years of intensive study in “Architecture & Sustainable Design: Senior Capstone Projects.” Well-wishers and interested onlookers packed The Gallery at Penn College on May 16 for the exhibit’s reception and heard from the designers and their faculty mentors.
