More than 110 pieces of art from 75 students, alumni, retirees, faculty and staff will be on display as part of the "Made by Hand: An Exhibition of Tomorrow Makers" exhibit through Feb. 26 at The Gallery at Penn College.

The Gallery at Penn College is celebrating the creativity, skill and artistry of the college community with an exhibit titled “Made by Hand: An Exhibition of Tomorrow Makers.” More than 110 pieces of art from 75 students, alumni, retirees, faculty and staff will be on display through Feb. 26.

The special exhibition marks the 20th anniversary of The Gallery at Penn College and features a variety of artistic expressions, unique perspectives and creative journeys.

“Visitors will experience a wide variety of styles and media, offering a glimpse into the creativity that thrives within Penn College – from painting and sculpture to wood and metal, the exhibition has something for everyone,” said Penny G. Lutz, gallery director. “As part of the gallery’s 20th anniversary celebration in 2026, participants were invited to share their favorite memories of the gallery. These reflections are displayed alongside the artwork labels, and visitors are invited to share their own memories in our guest book.”

Lutz expected a good turnout and selection of artwork when the idea was first proposed, but she said the number of entries has exceeded her expectations.

“While we received work from faculty, staff, alumni and retirees, students submitted the greatest number of works,” she said. “It’s very exciting to see Penn College students not only creating but recognizing the benefits of exhibiting their artwork.”

The gallery has hosted similar exhibitions in the past. In 2014, a show during the college’s centennial celebration with a theme of “past, present, future” featured the work of students, faculty, staff, alumni and retirees. Similarly, an employee exhibition was hosted in 2009.

“The gallery typically features artists from outside the region, so this is a special opportunity to highlight our own community,” she said. “We are hoping this exhibition allows our campus to shine and gives emerging artists the chance to display their work in a professional gallery setting. The gallery supports creative growth and community engagement through exhibitions such as this.”

A closing reception for "Made by Hand" is planned for 5 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 26. The event is free and open to the public.

The Gallery at Penn College is open from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon to 4 p.m. Fridays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. It is closed on Mondays and Saturdays.

In addition to serving as an educational resource for Penn College students and a cultural asset to the college and community, The Gallery at Penn College is dedicated to promoting art appreciation through exhibitions of contemporary art.
