Campus View's Matthew S. Kelleher recently was named Penn College's "Resident Assistant of the Month." Kelleher, a junior from Bellefonte majoring in Business Technology Management, has been an RA for a little over a year. He was encouraged to apply for the position by a former Resident Assistant, Maurice Freeman, who also was his roommate.
Seven students at Pennsylvania College of Technology have been awarded scholarships for Spring 2005 from the Williamsport Hospital Campus of Susquehanna Health System. Receiving one-year, full-tuition scholarships are: Kirk D. Evans, South Williamsport, a Nursing student; and Rebecca Weaver, Williamsport, who is enrolled in the Physician Assistant major.
All of the August 2004 graduates of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Practical Nursing certificate major who took their licensing exam before Dec. 31 have passed the test, according to the State Board of Nursing. In addition, the College's passing rate for all of the year's Nursing graduates who took their licensing exams in 2004 exceeded the passing rate for the entire state.
A heating, ventilation and air-conditioning student at Pennsylvania College of Technology will represent the United States during the 2005 World Skills Competition to be held May 26-29 in Helsinki, Finland. Shawn A.
Residence Life recently recognized Rose Street Apartment Resident's Jenn Brinkley with the honor of "Resident Assistant of the Month." Brinkley, a senior Welding and Fabrication Engineering Technology major from Slate Lick, is serving in her second year as an RA at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Three students from Saudi Arabia who will enter the Paramedic program at Penn College arrived on campus Thursday, and, on Tuesday, observed classes. The students are being trained here through funding from Houston-based Aramco Services Co. ASC is a wholly owned affiliate of Saudi Arabian Oil Co.
Daniel R. Little, scheduled to graduate in May with dual Information Technology bachelor's degrees in networking and programming, has been selected by the Student Government Association as February's "Student of the Month" at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Pennsylvania College of Technology Aviation students recently traveled to Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C., touring Independence Air's hangar, maintenance control and administrative areas. They also received an overview and demonstration of Bombardier's Canadair Regional Jet from Bombardier's Technical Representative Joe Bazil.
Monday evening's "Make a Match" dating game was a hit, as hosts Mike DiPalma and Rachel Hoover emceed two rounds of "love connection" for a pair of campus "bachelorettes." Wendy Mertzeis was the first, winning a date with first-year student Chris Carroll, and Mindy Corcelious won a date with Jim Riedel. Each couple won a $25 gift certificate for dinner.
Chef Suzann L. Major, a First Year Experience mentor and assistant professor in the School of Hospitality, presented "Valentine's Day Chocolates and Cookies" at Rose Street Apartments on Sunday night. Twenty-eight FYE students attended, makingchocolate-covered strawberries and a chocolate bowl with chocolate mousse and decorating sugar cookies with chocolate.
