All 11 of Pennsylvania College of Technology's December associate-degree nursing graduates who attempted their licensing exam by March 31 passed the test on their first try. Those results mean Penn College's pass rate for April 1, 2004, to March 31, 2005, is 95.59 percent, the highest pass rate for associate-degree programs in the state for that time period.

Richard J.Geyer, an Aviation Maintenance Technology major from East Greenville, and mentor Mike DeCosta from Altria Corporate Services in White Plains, N.Y., recently competed in the Aviation Maintenance Olympics. They and Altria employee Dave Richards took part in the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association-sponsored competition from May 19-20.

The Central Pennsylvania chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers awarded cash prizes to three Pennsylvania College of Technology students, following a Student Project Showcase competition at the college. Seven students in the electronics engineering technology bachelor-degree major were chosen to present their senior projects during the competition.

A student from the Lewisburg Area School District is the fourth recipient of a scholarship established at Pennsylvania College of Technology to honor the memory of the late wife of state Sen. Roger A. Madigan, a member of the college's board of directors. Steven A. Romano, a senior at Lewisburg Area High School, was selected to receive the Peggy Madigan Memorial Leadership Scholarship for 2005.

Dean L. Solomon, 42, of Old Lycoming Township, a senior enrolled in the computer information technology-data communications and networking major and a Penn College employee, died this week. In his honor, a brick will be placed in the memorial walkway at the entrance to the college, and the college flag will be at half-staff.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has presented student achievement awards to its May 2005 graduates.
